Ok so essays have officially taken over my life and I'm entering the stage that I call: alienating myself from loved ones because 4 hours of sleep every night is resulting in some major crabbiness.

Aside from that, I thought I would share a funny moment.. Althought it may very well only be funny to me.

Context: I'm writing a paper on the Castrati of 17th cent. Italy for a 3rd year music class required by my program and as I was reading over a sentence I realized I had added a word (totally unconsciously).. Guess which one, it made me laugh...

Hiya friends!
Just a quick update, should you care to know what the hell I've been up to..

1- I turned 20 on friday! I had a rad time hanging out with my mom (so all of you who thought I forgot to invite you to some crazy event, I didnt..) She made this amazing vegan meal that was everything I could have hoped for (stuffed tomatoes, cabbage rolls, fried onion & date thing, it was DELICIOUS) and aside from the food being amazing, the trip down memory lane and just spending time with my mom (which is something I rarely have a chance to do) was just as amazing and fun-filled.

2- I'm in a band! Maxx and I have been jamming for a bit more than a month now.. It rules pretty damn hard. And we want to record a demo in december. (but we'll have to have secured a drummer before that areahdhfkajdhgf) We're called She-wolf and we're basically pop-crust.. But I'm not saying anything else because you'll just have to check us out to find out!

3- SCHOOL HAS TAKEN OVER MY LIFE IN A PAINFUL AND TIME-CONSUMING WAY. nuff said...

Allan Antliff will discuss the politics of being gay during the 1950s, and how anarchists created art keyed to a libertarian sensibility decidedly at odds with the puritanical conformism of that era.
Also of note, Allan holds the Canada Research Chair in Art History at the University of Victoria. His course subjects include: “20th-Century Anarchism and Avant-Garde Art”; “New York Dada”; and “American Modernism Between the Wars”. In addition to teaching art history he is an art
critic, curator, and art editor for Anarchist Studies.

Wow I've been quoted alongside a picture of myself (and others) in 3 papers in the past WEEK. Ottawa Citizen, Express and Upfront... Two out of three had to do with the infoshop and the upfront well, I just happened to be accosted on the street and asked what I thought was innapropriate... " Pascale: Getting cut off by cars, while walking or bicyclin" haha is that the best I could do??
(Note the last time I was in the paper was for winning some soccer tournament like a decade ago... Oh and I was technically quoted in the Toronto Star for the anti-tobacco youth coalition three years ago.. I say technically because the journalist wrote that my last name was Dudette because I guess she thought my EMAIL address reflected my last name..... Woo! But that was 3 years ago.. AND THIS IS NOW!)

IT WILL BE SWEET!

had there been a third driver to piss me off today he/she would have a smashed window.
I swear, today I had two really aggravating encounters.

Encounter #1: I was biking down Nicholas street and there were two vans waiting at the red light, not turning. I went to the left of them, so the middle of the street in order to get passed them, turn and be on my way. Unfortunately for me, cars were coming in both lanes from the opposite direction which made it a really close call to be next to a van and facing oncoming traffic. So I just cut it close and the loop of my bad brushed up against the van's mirror. I heard it and it didnt bother me seeing as it actually happens pretty frequently. Apparently it really bothered the driver tho because I heard major honking then they turned where I was turning and at the red light a youngish woman wearing a tuque with a canada leaf on it (nuff said) rolled down her window:

woman (enraged) : YOU HIT OUR VAN WITH YOUR BIKE!!!

me: (thinking: if I had hit their van I would have fallen off my bike, so no.) no I didnt, my bag hit your mirror.

woman: ( comes out of the van, enraged, goes around and checks the side) Well it damn better have only touched the mirror, Im gonna check, cuz otherwise you would pay for our van!

me: no, my bag just touched your mirror and your mirror is fine.

woman: *something incomprehensible* but clearly bitching at me in an enraged manner

me: do you have any idea how hard it is to be a cyclist in Ottawa?

woman: We should have hit you.

me: wtf. ok.. wtf?

And she kept mumbling that next time they would hit me as she was rolling up her window. They drove off but it was clear that she realised I wasnt some psycho who hit their car with my bike and that there was absolutely no damage done to the van and she was in fact the psycho.

Encounter # 2:

A cabbie made a ridiculously illegal U-turn at bank and James about 2 seconds in front of me, and then stopped and practically parked himself in the middle of the lane. I went around and hit his mirror with full force. He must be a dangerous cabbie and expect that kind of shit, because I think his mirror was on some sort of spring mechanism?? Or I broke it and didnt realise how hard I hit it. Either way he fully deserved it. I HATE CABBIES. ALONG WITH 18 WHEELERS THEY ARE THE ONLY ONES WITH THE GUTS TO BRUSH UP AGAINST ME ON BRONSON AT LIKE 100KM AN HOUR. AHARHSAIRHWAIFHADSFFJKADHSFKJASGASDF,.

Anyways, I have alot of annoying encounters but those were just too much for me tonite. I am really glad there wasnt a third :( Everyday I am thankful to come home alive and well. Sometimes cars dont realise just how close they cut it! AAAAAnyways, sorry if this was terribly boring.. ok not really sorry nyeehehehe!

+Last nite I had the most ecstatic shower experience.. you dont realize how good rubbing your scalp/combing your hair feels until you dont get to for about 5 years

I AM HOME!!!!
I got home on friday nite and goddamn it feels good! I am so stoked on life right now its incredible!! Mostly due to looking forward to seeing familiar faces and doing things such as riding my bike and going to govindas.
WHICH I WILL BE DOING ON MONDAY, TODAY.. MMMM GOVINDAS I will also be praying that Easter doesnt stop Shankar from opening his doors.. if so then Ill be off to the green door!
So as far as how my trip went; amazing!

Ive said it before and Ill say it again; TIBET = BEST PART OF THE TRIP IF NOT OF MY LIFE it was truly amazing. My better pictures from that part of the trip still have to be developped so I will scan some when they're ready. As far as my other pictures go I have about 1000 which I do not feel like photobucketing right now so these pages scanned out of my diary will have to do for now!

I drove down with Mare and we went to ESD which was also GREAT (considering it had been one of my main cravings) and then we headed to babylon where I saw some sweet sweet sweet friends, reuniting hugs are by far the best kind!

Allo!
Ok I am now in Kathmandu!

FIRSTLY The past 2 weeks in Tibet were 2 of the most amazing of my life (and that includes being stuck in the snow in the himalayas) Tibet is fuckin great and the Chinese Govt. fuckin sucks. (inquire upon my return... Ill show pictures)

SECONDLY I think i will spend the remainder of my trip back in India, in Rishikesh which Im told is like Nepal but without political problems! woohoo

THIRDLY being in Nepal doesnt totally make up for missing the Paint it Black/Career Suicide show at Deckuf.. DANG!

FOURTHLY I am reaaaaally looking forward to: familiar faces, hangouts with familiar faces and more importantly my beloved friends, GOOD VEGAN FOOD.. holy shit if it ever crossed anyone's mind, put it in action:

GOVINDAS FEAST UPON MY RETURN!

and Im serious about that. Can you believe it?! spends 2 months in india and is still craving back-home indian food... I think its the pasta salad... oh god the pasta salad. Enough to make me ask myself "WHY AM I HERE?!!" ok not really but almost.

FIFTHLY I know that you all have been busy with your lives and its different when youre traveling because you have alot of time to think and reminisce but I want everyone to know that I really do miss you and think of you!.. Its crazy how many memories have come up.. like some parts of my life that I had COMPLETELY forgotten about.. eerie! But yes, much love.

ok so today is exactly half of my trip wow shit wow
ok also I am watching 25 ants eating at a maggot near the computer mouse and its grossing me out. so many bugs everywhere.
ok at least Im heading north which means cold and no more bugs..
ok TIBET in a few days, extremely excited for that. extremely is an understatement

ALSO in recent news; as of fall I will be a university student
Ive been accepted in the College of the Humanities at Carleton which is basically this hardcore program that feeds you more philosophy, litterature, arts and history than you can handle. SWEET!!

The best part is I didnt even have to do anything but apply.. thank you nerdy high school years of good grades!

Ok Im wishing everyone warm thoughts of sun!!

THUMBS UP Y'ALL!

ok so here are a few pictures!.. theyre mostly from the very beginning of the trip only because its been a bitch to download them waaaaahhhhh
soccer with a coconut on Cherrai Beach in Fort Cochin, Kerala!!

So India is INTENSE! lots of colors, lots of sounds, lots of smells, LOTS OF FOOD! So far so good I have done:
Chennai to Pondicherry, then crossed over to the state of Kerala, stayed there for a bit and did a 6 day ayurvedic massage course. We then went up to Goa, left for rajasthan and now Im in Jodhpur! (blue city!) Tomorrow we are off to Jaisalmer for the camel festival! Im hoping to make it up north to Daramhsala in about a week and a half and after that Im going to go to Delhi, Agra, Varanasi, NEPAL and TIBET!! wootwoot
ok so this is all very exciting but believe it or not I do miss home :(

I hope everything is well with everybody!!!

Dear friends,
In less than 48 hours I will be on my way to London where I will stay for 2 days and then head to the beautiful country that is India.

See, Ive been excited about this trip for a long time.. But now, the excitement is meeting with reality and it's a very weird feeling. Mind you Ive been in limbo for the past month and a half in regards to being in Ottawa, so needless to say how stoked I am for actually leaving.

Here is a rough idea of my itinerary:

This is where Im going to ask everyone a big favor.
As fun and amazing as this trip may sound it will be an on-going challenge.. A constant quest for food/shelter/water. As a perk that will help me get grounded Ive decided that I will check my emails whenever Im feeling down... Even though I dont know how often I will have a chance to do so... AND THIS IS WHERE YOU COME IN!!

MY CAT HAD BABIES!!!!!!!!!!!!!
THEY ARE SO UNBELIEVABLY CUTE!
3 have gray and black stripes and 2 are black with white tummies and paws!
they are like mini tigers and mini panthers!

Minette with kitties.. she is really tired :(

Minette managed to get them all huddled and sleepy and then left them alone for the first time.. after a long nite of hard work she went and took some fresh air so I got to take a couple upclose pictures!

I just got back from yet another sweet sweet trip to NYC/Brooklyn and recent addition: Philly! (which WAS a VERY nice city! contrary to what some may think) I took an insane amount of pictures due to my recent purchase of a digital camera and they are pretty much ALL posted here. I am also waiting on Pam's pictures, Im sure she will have tons of good ones too. OK here goes!!:

First off we have a couple pictures of Brooklyn Naturals- a store near where we were staying, Corrine and me and then Justin and Tasha

The MoMA!!! I got to go the MoMA (for freeeeee might I add) and it was absolutely amazing. As much as taking pictures of artwork is ridiculous there are just four works that I could NOT believe I was standing in front of (ie. Duchamps,Klimt,Dalì & Magritte). I jotted down all of the artists who's art I couldnt believe I was seeing.. So great and overwhelming aaaaaaaah

One of the best things about this trip is that I got to play sports!! (basketball twice and DODGEBALL once!!- all of you Ottawa kids out there, we HAVE to get this going!!!)

Here are a few pictures from Bliss a farely crappy vegan restaurant, we have Jen (a sweeeet girl who came down from North Carolina) and Chad who is from Philly but moved to NY, then Tasha and Liz (who came down from NC with Jen, Chad again and then my food (a supposed vegan club sandwich)

BLACK JESUS AMEN! so here we have these wonderful figurines and then Tasha and Nelson, eating popsicles!

We went to the Brooklyn Botanicals, it was a long walk to get there but it was sweet once we got there (even tho we had to leave 45 minutes later haha)

Later we went to a Tapas Bar (not topless hehe), I had an un-meatball sub!!! so good!

And even later we went to Atlas (a sweet vegan desert place) where we wigged on sugar and pet some cute puppies!.. Oh and made faces in the metro haha

WAFFLE BREAKFAST! Mebus had the brilliant idea of making everyone waffles.. they were amazing!!- this boy is a very talented cook!

PHILLY!

We went to a Pretzel Factory in the Philly burbs that only opens at midnight

Still in Philly! (here you might notice general tao`s chicken, garlic shrimp, roasted pork fried rice and some fish plate- all vegan of course! It was delicious!!!!)

We met up with Pam and she took over the picture-taking so I will link her lj when she posts her pictures!

BUT FINALLY: the buys! What I bought is pretty much self-explanatory, except the records marked with a star are some that Justin gave me.. or at least he owed me TWENTY$$$ from LOSING at c-lo! hahahaha so he payed me in records.. Might I remind you records are damn cheap down there, hence the 7$ Minor Threat one hot damn!

That`s about it for now.. I will post pictures of PROM later, they're a must-see.. hahaha. Ok. so Im starting summer camps on monday at the gallery.. which means I will have weekends off.. LET`S HANGOUT :)
